Living in a Small Village

[Caulnes, Bretagne]

2019

Professors: C. Rannou, M. Dilet

The project is based in a small village in Brittany in a landscape significantly modified by the artefacts of industrial agriculture and depopulation.

The project tries to balance  redevelopment, restoration and construction to highlight new agricultural methods and practices by linking them to the different meeting points in the village.

The design questions the conventional idea of "border" - here village and fields are connected and work together.  Therefore the project is mainly concentrated in the area where the village is nestled between agricultural lands inviting the fields into the "village scape".
